Dane began his career in 2006 as a graduate fire engineer with WSP. In 2009 he became one of the founding directors of Omega Fire Engineering, spending a decade helping establish, grow and manage the practice until its acquisition by BB7 in 2019. He subsequently led the Northwest region for BB7 before taking a year out of the industry, later returning as UK Director for Joule Group. He founded Highgate Fire Engineering in 2023 to focus on high-quality independent consultancy, detailed technical review work and expert-witness services.

Mark's career spans operational firefighting through to senior leadership in fire safety consultancy. Starting as a Crew Manager with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, he progressed through roles with the New Zealand Fire Service, WSP Group, and ultimately co-founded Omega Fire in 2009. Over a decade, Mark and his business partners grew Omega Fire from 3 staff to 35, building a reputation for exceptional fire engineering quality and technical expertise. This success led to Omega Fire's acquisition by BB7 Group (backed by BGF) in 2019, where Mark served as Commercial Director until 2024.
Mark is now a Director at Highgate Fire Engineering Ltd, applying the principles of engineering excellence, quality, and efficiency alongside excellent communication and unrivalled client care.
